To appreciate the merits of Friedrich Hopfner, Professor for Higher Geodesy at the Vienna University of Technology from 1934 to 1949, in the field of International Geodesy, the Members of the Österreichische Kommission für die Internationale Erdmessung (now Austrian Geodetic Commission) donated a Friedrich Hopfner-Medal for extraordinary achievements in the field of geodesy.
